What is a Day Of Wedding Coordinator?

Somewhere between hiring a full-service wedding planner and doing every little thing yourself lives this very happy medium called Day Of Coordinating. This concept can be a real life saver for couples who either don’t have the budget for the full-service wedding planner or simply want to do everything leading up to their big day but are wise enough to realize they should not leave all the last minute details and logistics up to a mom, sister or member of the wedding party. Those people are your guests too, don’t forget! You want them to be able to have as much fun and enjoyment on your wedding day as everyone else, not get stuck running errands or cleaning up at the end of the night (leave that up to me!). Planning a wedding can be highly stressful, especially if you’re doing it all yourself. The least you can do to give yourself some peace of mind is to hire a coordinator for the day who can ensure that everything you have spent all those months planning runs smoothly and just as you envisioned. There are so many moving parts, from caterers showing up on time, flowers getting delivered, centerpieces being arranged and transportation for the wedding party to everything else like hair and make up, photographers, bakeries and licenses to juggle. These are not things you should be thinking about on your wedding day. Coordinators become the ring leaders for all the vendors on the big day and are the point of contact for any questions from anyone you’ve hired, family members or the wedding party. Some couples have a reception venue that includes a coordinator. Keep in mind, this is not the same as someone you hire specifically as your Day Of person. Though venue coordinators are often very helpful and may offer assistance with the overall flow of the day, they will not likely take on tasks such as sewing a bridesmaid’s dress, wrangling uncles for photos or alphabetizing your 200 escort cards. In addition to having the spotlight on you all day, you are also the hosts of this awesome shindig. If anything goes wrong, a coordinator will fix it, or at least handle it, so that you are not running around behind the scenes problem-solving on one of the biggest days of your life.
